I am definitely having one of those weeks. A tough one. One where you are having a tough time getting up and out the door on time. My face is broken out like a teenager, and I am in serious need of a haircut. A week when the kids are on your last nerve and you haven’t seen your spouse in what seems like weeks. Instead of throwing a pity party, though, my sisters have inspired me to think about what I am thankful for.
I literally was just texting them telling them I didn’t really have something to write about for today, and Haley and I had a twin connection (one of many) as we both thought of writing about what I am thankful for. Thankful Thursday.
I am thankful for a kind, loving and respectful class this year. If you noticed, one of the things that is NOT mentioned negatively above, is my classroom or students. As a kindergarten teacher, 22 five and six year olds can wear you out. Often times running me into the ground leaving me tired and cranky as I get home to take care of my own two cuties. This year, I truly have the most amazing group of littles. I am so thankful that I get to go to school each day and LOVE on those kids. They bring me so much joy, and this year, the class is running exceptionally smoothly. No complaints from Mrs. Smith!
My own two cuties, Meade and Cooper. Truly so blessed to have both of them to call my own. Each so different, with their own individual challenges and blessings, and hilarious personalities. I am so grateful to be their mommy. Even when Meade decides to throw a 15 minute temper tantrum at the park the other day, I am able to find the positives: like getting to spend 15 minutes of one-on-one time with my buddy Cooper while Meade got himself together. So much to be proud of for both of them. Cooper is kicking butt in potty training. Seriously, a champion at it – beyond thankful for this. Meade wasn’t trained until 3, but Cooper has it mastered at 2 1/2. THANKFUL! Meade is 4 1/2 and stubborn beyond belief, but he is smart and sweet and gives the best compliments right when I need it the most. So. Very. Thankful.
I am very grateful for my amazing hubby, Meade. For those that don’t know, he is a Strength and Conditioning Coach at SIUE, and takes care of all of the athletes that train there. School years are beyond busy for us – it is his busy time at work, as well as mine. He leaves the house before 5:00 am and sometimes doesn’t get home ’til 8:00 or 9:00 at night. I am so thankful for being married to a very hard working person who takes pride in his work and his family. He HELPS me when he can, and even when it is completely inconvenient. But most of all, he is my biggest supporter and cheerleader. He doesn’t complain about my countless hours of blogging, working out, or catching up on Real Housewives of New Jersey. His love is unconditional and I am very blessed to have a husband like him.
Lastly, I am thankful for my sisters. They truly are the most influential and positive people I know. If you have worked with them, follow them online, or know them, you know that there isn’t a better group of women out there able to find the best in people the way that they do. Women can be judgmental, competitive, and unsupportive of each other. I am thankful to have grown up with these 3 people that don’t judge, but help and offer solutions. They don’t compete against me, but guide and encourage me. Most importantly, they support me in my decisions and choices, and are the greatest listeners when I need them.
I am feeling better already. I hope that you are having a great week. If your week wasn’t the best, I hope you are able to seek out and appreciate the good in what you had this week. I hope you are able to feel thankful this Thursday.
